Chauncey Shattuck

Shattuck named head of Sheriff's Office Delhi Division

You’ll notice a new – but likely familiar – face at the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office Delhi Division next month. In July, Department veteran Lt. Chauncey Shattuck will take over leadership of the Delhi Division following the retirement of Lt. Eric Jungel.

Lt. Shattuck — who began his policing career in Delhi Township — is a 14-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office. He currently oversees the Sheriff’s Office Staff Services Division, which includes the detective bureau, emergency operations center, volunteer services, courts and transports. Lt. Shattuck served a vital role in overseeing the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management Division during part of the COVID-19 pandemic. He also played an integral role in the implementation of ICSO’s body worn camera system in 2021.

Lt. Jungel has led the Sheriff’s Office Delhi Division since 2018 and began his career in the Sheriff’s Office in 1999.

Welcome home, Lt. Shattuck, and thank you for helping keep our community safe, Lt. Jungel!

Township announces partnership to preserve historic church windows

Delhi Township has partnered with the Holt-Delhi Historical Society to preserve eight stained glass windows from the historic Grovenburg United Methodist Church. The west Delhi Township church, which dates back to 1840, dissolved in 2019, and the township and historical society have been working to preserve its history ever since.

The church’s windows are scheduled to be removed in July and donated to the Historical Society. The Historical Society will then sell the windows with sale proceeds going toward development of a museum that will house an important collection of artifacts from the Kahres Dairy Farm.

Command Vehicle

Fire Department rolls out new command vehicle

The Delhi Township Fire Department has introduced a new command vehicle to its fleet – the latest investment in public safety from the 2018 voter-approved fire and emergency medical equipment and vehicle millage. The 2020 Chevy Silverado replaced the department’s 2013 Ford Explorer. The new command vehicle is more user friendly and efficient for first responders, Fire Chief Brian Ball said. The vehicle is used by fire command and control, EMS first response, fire investigation and life-safety inspection.

Another example of your fire millage dollars at work!
