The recently completed renovations to the Delhi Fire Station were finished under budget and ahead of schedule.

Completed Fire Station

The updates include a number of important upgrades for our firefighters and EMS personnel, including:

  • updating air filter and ventilation systems to improve air quality,
  • relocating dorms for first responders closer to bays to shorten response time and
  • adding storage that prevents firefighters’ gear from being degraded by UV light.

The original Delhi Township station was built in 1996 when only part-time firefighters worked for the department. The station now houses full-time career firefighters and staff as well as part-time and paid-on-call firefighters who assist each month.

The renovations were necessary for first responders to continue serving our township’s growing population. These changes, which help to make the best use of space at the station, are a win-win for our community because they allow firefighters and EMS team members to continue to quickly respond to emergencies. They also will help attract high-quality first responders to serve Delhi Township long into the future.

The $10 million fire station renovation used a combination of local dollars and a $7.5 million state grant. Because of the township’s fiscal responsibility, general fund dollars could be used for the project.
